Sculptra
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). It is designed to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production, gradually restoring volume and improving skin texture over time. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, which provide immediate volume, Sculptra works beneath the surface to enhance facial structure and firmness over several months.
How Does Sculptra Work?
By stimulating fibroblasts in the skin to produce new collagen. When injected into targeted areas, the PLLA microparticles act as a scaffold, encouraging the body to regenerate lost collagen. Over time, the microparticles are naturally absorbed, leaving behind a more youthful and voluminous appearance. Patients typically require a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart for optimal results, with effects lasting up to two years or more.
